Hello! My name is
Martina Desiree, I am a 17 year old Musician/Song Writer! Music is my passion,
not a day goes by when I don't go get an instrument and play my heart out. I
love writing my own music because it keeps me sane. Music is the expression of
emotion. Each song I write has a little piece of me, it's my way of expressing
myself.
Right now I am super
excited about this new project that I have started recently! It is called the
Stained Glass Project! This project is to spread awareness for the issues of Suicide
Prevention, Self Injury, Bullying and basically to just let people know that
they are not alone.
My goal is to create a
supportive community and to spread awareness. On my blog I will post things
about discovering yourself, defeating depression, self- injury and low
self-esteem. I post little projects/challenges and written entries. If you
have any ideas or would like to get involved or help please contact me at findingyouressence@yahoo.com or personally! I would love to hear from you!J
Music is such an important aspect of my life. And
I have realized that I can use this passion of mine to help others. I am in the
process of starting a movement called, "Hope in Lyrics." It is a movement
where musicians will be able to make a difference in their community. I am currently
organizing a benefit concert this fall at Jammin Java in Virginia, where all
funds raised will go to To Write Love On Her Arms. (a non-profit organization.)
More details to be
revealed soon! So make sure to stay in touch with my facebook page!
I love when I am able to help someone stand up when they feel like they have fallen. We are a society and I think we are meant to work together to mend each other when we forget who we really are.
Please Join The Campaign
to kick the butt of self doubt and defeat your insecurities! I will be posting
exciting things and ways that you can help make a difference.
I would love to hear
from you!
Also if you are a
musician and would like to play at the Benefit this fall please message me with
a demo of your music.
If you will be on the
East Coast this fall, and would like to hear more information on the Benefit
please message me and I can put you on my mailing list.
Please help spread the
word! And always know that you can contact me personally. I love meeting new
people :)

Interview
1 What inspires you most to sing?
My inspiration mostly
comes from my desire and passion to express my emotions! It lets me unravel my
feelings into a tune and put it down in the way I truly believe emotions are
expressed: music.
2 I noticed you write most of your own music, which one are you
most proud of? It is hard to pick one, because they all express
different emotions. But, I think How Many Times, a song for anti
bullying and domestic violence is one of them.
3 I have watched some of your youtube videos and saw you play more
than one instrument, how many do you play??
I play guitar, piano,
ukulele, bowed salutary and violin. I LOVE playing instruments and being able
to put my lyrics to them! I plan on trying other ones too! I love learning. J
4 Who do you idol in the musician industry??
I do not necessarily “Idol”
anyone. I do love musicians who write songs with true meaning and inspiration.
5 If you could sing with anyone who would it be and why?
Renee Yohe, from the band
“Bearcat” She is the girl that the organization called To Write Love On Her
Arms, a non-profit organization that offers hope for people who suffer from
addiction, depression and self-injury. She is one of my inspirations J
6 What genre of music do you listen to on a daily basis??
I love all kinds of
music, I think different genres speak to people in different ways. On a daily
basis I will listen to all types of music, from Mumford and Sons (Folk) to The
Killers (Rock) to Macklemore (Rap)
7 Is music what you want to do in life or is their another
ambition that you would like to explore one day??
I
do want to continue to
pursue music, however, I have other things I am very interested too. I
am a senior in high school and actually am currently choosing what I
would like to major in, in college. I love science, communication
forensics, art and psychology. I know whatever I do I want to help
make a difference. I have begun the Stain Glass Project to
help people know that they are NOT alone. And because I love music have
begun the Hope in Lyrics movement so musicians can use their music to
help the marginalized. I would love to see these two project go
nationwide.
8 At what age did you start singing??
I have been singing ever since I remember! J
9 If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and
why??
Ahh! So many places on
my list to travel! But I would love to go to Nashville, TN and play my music
there! J
10 Who
is Martina Desiree really??
A seventeen year old dreamer pretty much sums me up! I am a
girl who wants to make a difference. Not just in music, but in helping others!
I love doing service projects or things that I believe will help out the
community! One project that I am working on right now is putting on a benefit
concert this fall for To Write Love On Her Arms! The money raised will go
towards To Write Love On Her arms to spread awareness of issues that it
deals with: suicide, depression, addiction and self injury. I am very excited
about this event and I believe that it will be powerful!
I started an organization called “The Stained Glass Project.” We are all stained. We are all
broken. Together we make something beautiful. Building a community of support,
help and love, I believe will be beautiful. I really hope that you will like
the facebook page and see all the exciting things that I have in store that will
be coming soon! :D
I really hope that you check it out J
