I remember an old sitcom with a theme song that said, “where everyone knows your name.” Something about isn’t that where you’d want to go? I don’t know about that. But how about going someplace where your secrets are safe? To me, that seems like heaven. A place where I can tell my secrets and know that they – and I – will be safe.
So, the great thing about being a writer is that I can create the world I most want to live in. I can make a place where our secrets are all safe. It wouldn’t be a place where we all live all the time. Logistically that wouldn’t work. But to know that the place was there…
To know that you could go there anytime you needed to do so…
I wanted that. And my series, Where Secrets Are Safe, was born. This month I’m releasing book seven in the series, Love By Association. So far, there are a total of 12 books contracted. Books 8 and 9 are out in May and July. To me, the real beauty of these books is that you don’t have to read one to be fully involved in another. You don’t have to read in any order. Or even read more than one. The only thing gluing these books together is the Place. The place where secrets are safe – a unique women’s shelter, The Lemonade Stand, in a fictional California coastal town, Santa Raquel. The people come and then they go. This isn’t a place where you stay forever. It’s a place where you bring your secrets, where you are safe, while you work out whatever is troubling you.
Some of the stories involve residents at the Stand. Some revolve around people who are somehow associated with it. In all of them, you will find a sense of strength, hope for the future, and love that surpasses anything else life might hand you.
